Dr. Josef Ackermann ist Vorsitzender des Vorstands und des Group Executive Committee der Deutschen Bank. Als Chief Executive Officer ist er konzernweit für Kommunikation & Gesellschaftliche Verantwortung, die Volkswirtschaftliche Abteilung / DB Research und die Revision verantwortlich.

Er studierte Volkswirtschaft und Sozialwissenschaften an der Universität St. Gallen und trat nach Abschluss seiner Promotion im Jahr 1977 in die Schweizerische Kreditanstalt SKA (die heutige Credit Suisse) ein. 1990 wurde Ackermann in das Executive Board der SKA berufen und wurde 1993 zu deren Präsidenten ernannt.

1996 wechselte Ackermann in den Vorstand der Deutschen Bank, wo er für den Investmentbanking-Bereich zuständig war. 2002 wurde er Sprecher des Vorstands und Vorsitzender des Group Executive Committee. Am 1. Februar 2006 wurde Ackermann zum Vorsitzenden des Vorstands ernannt. Unter seiner Leitung entwickelte sich das Investmentbanking zu einer der wesentlichen Ertragssäulen der Deutschen Bank, die innerhalb weniger Jahre in die Spitzengruppe der globalen Investmentbanken aufrückte. Seit 2006 forcierte er den Ausbau der stabilen Geschäftsfelder durch verschiedene Übernahmen und Zukäufe. Eine entscheidende Weichenstellung zur nachhaltigen Stärkung des Privatkundengeschäfts der Deutschen Bank nahm Ackermann 2010 mit der beschleunigten Übernahme der Postbank vor. Im selben Jahr erfolgte die größte Kapitalerhöhung in der Geschichte der Bank.

Ackermann ist Mitglied im Aufsichtsrat der Siemens AG (2. stellvertretender Vorsitzender), non-Executive Member des Board of Directors der Royal Dutch Shell plc und Mitglied im Verwaltungsrat der Zurich Financial Services Ltd (Vizepräsident). Zudem engagiert er sich u.a. maßgeblich beim Institute of International Finance (Chairman of the Board of Directors), dem World Economic Forum (Co-Chairman des Foundation Board), der St. Galler Stiftung für Internationale Studien (Präsident), im Beirat-Wirtschaft des Goethe Instituts (Vorsitzender), bei der Stiftung Lindauer Nobelpreisträgertreffen am Bodensee (Mitglied des Ehrensenats), der Metropolitan Opera New York (Advisory Director) sowie der Initiative Finanzstandort Deutschland (Mitglied des Initiatorenkreises). Seit 2007 lehrt Ackermann als Gastprofessor im Fachbereich Finance an der London School of Economics. Im Juli 2008 wurde er zum Honorarprofessor der Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main ernannt. Daneben ist Ackermann Honorary Fellow der London Business School und trägt den Ehrendoktortitel der griechischen Demokrit-Universität Thrakien.

„Josef Ackermann ist einer der gefährlichsten Bankmanager der Welt“

taz: Herr Johnson, die Deutsche Bank erwartet 2011 einen Rekordgewinn von 10 Milliarden Euro. Ist die Finanzkrise vorbei?

 Simon Johnson: Der deutsche Finanzsektor ist sehr problematisch, und die Deutsche Bank ist besonders gefährdet, sich selbst in die Luft zu jagen. Ihr Chef Josef Ackermann ist einer der gefährlichsten Bankmanager der Welt, weil er darauf besteht, eine Eigenkapitalrendite von 20 bis 25 Prozent zu erzielen. Ein so hoher Gewinn ist nur möglich, weil er genau weiß, dass die Deutsche Bank ein Systemrisiko darstellt und daher von den Steuerzahlern gerettet würde, falls ein Konkurs droht. Also wird auf Gewinn spekuliert – was dann auch die Boni der Manager maximiert.“

Ich kann grundsätzlich nur zustimmen, wobei es mich sehr an „good cop – bad cop“ bzw. „teile und herrsche“ erinnert, wenn ein ehemaliger Chefökonom des Internationalen Währungsfonds sowas sagt. Wenn die staatlichen Aufsichtsbehörden jetzt höhere Eigenkapitalquoten für die Banken fordern und das sicherlich wieder einige als „Beweis“ interpretieren, daß „der Markt“ eben reguliert werden müsse, kann ich nur entgegnen, daß es die Regulierer waren, die den Banken die niedrigen Quoten erlaubt hatten und die Banken „am Markt“ bei diesen Quoten schon längst alle verschwunden wären. Mir fällt ferner keine Branche ein, die weniger mit „Kapitalismus“ zu tun hat, als das moderne (Mega-)Bankwesen, obwohl deren Treiben ja besonders gerne als „Turbo-Kapitalismus“ bezeichnet wird.

Na,dann mal schauen,in welch „feiner Gesellschaft“ sich Mr Ackermann sonst noch so rumtreibt:
